SF Hearts Las Vegas
My heart is broken to be living in a world where something like this could happen. It's too close to home to not stand up and do something, anything.
I grew up going to Las Vegas. It was an extension of our backyard being from southern California. I can't count the number of times we've gone on family vacations, weekend trips, girls' weekends, just-because trips with friends, and bachelor and bachelorette parties. Anyone of those people at the festival could have been me or anyone I know.
The minute I landed in San Francisco after a magical trip to Hawai'i, I was awakened by this reality: a single (questionable) gunman firing into a Las Vegas festival crowd in what appears to be a senseless act of defiance, taking nearly 60 lives that didn't yet need to be taken. But it was an act of defiance...of what? Of a privileged life itself!? I just can't wrap my head around it. What has this world come to?
No one should have to fear for their lives, least of all from having it taken by another human being. How cruel and disgusting do we have to be to be able to bear such horror after horror of human lives being slaughtered for no good reason? In times like these, it's easy to give up. But giving up means giving into injustice. And in a world where religion gets to claim hate, we have the right and duty to claim Love. Take God back from religion. Take Love back.
My head spins, my heart aches, but still I remain loving, hopeful, and full of Aloha. We're all we have for each other. Remember who you are. Remember we need each other. Be kind, be love. The answer is always Love.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
- Mother Teresa
In less than 72 hours since the incident, San Francisco and neighboring cities of love have raised over $6,000 in contributions with this campaign alone. With the power of our Love combined, there is nothing we cannot overcome...Together.
